The Freechild Institute for Youth Engagement is proud to share our newest program, the Family Youth Engagement Program, or FYEP. The FYEP provide fun, interactive seminars to parents and youth who work together and make successful families, supportive homes and healthier communities.

What Is FYEP?
Focused on the positive, powerful potential of youth-parent partnerships at home, the FYEP is a new program of the Freechild Institute. Together, youth and parents come to the FYEP to explore youth engagement, family empowerment and home-based change. They explore the skills, knowledge and actions needed to change their lives and the homes they share, too. Focused on practical learning through meaningful and fun activities, participants examine deep issues, create powerful solutions and learn in new ways as partners.
What Does It Cover?
Topics in the FYEP include:
- Youth Voice at Home
- Family Involvement
- Facing Negative Stereotypes at Home
- Changing Household Communication
- Establishing Appropriate Power, Trust, and Respect
- Individual and Family Strengths and Weaknesses
- Family Action Planning
- Problem Solving Every Day
- Providing Real Adult Support for Youth
How Does It Happen?
Freechild Institute facilitates the FYEP online or provides train-the-trainer sessions and curriculum. As an online program, the FYEP can be done with large groups or in family groups.
Train-the-Trainer
Partnering with nonprofits, schools, government agencies and others, the Freechild Institute facilitates interactive, online train-the-trainer events, and then certifies organizations to use our materials. The FYEP partners receive complete seminar manuals with workshop plans, a facilitation guide, evaluation materials and participant handouts.
